What do need to learn Spanish at home?

Through the use of a computer, learning Spanish at home becomes as easy as pie. Today, you find in the market a number of CD ROMs, which help you with the pronunciation as well as translation from English (or your native language) to Spanish. In order to have sufficient back-up help you will need to get a Spanish-English and English-Spanish dictionary, which would help with the words that are not covered in the CD ROM lessons. Once you know the basics, the most important aspect becomes practice, practice, practice. Unless you apply what you learnt on a daily basis, you will never be able to master Spanish in the real sense. You will need to converse with someone on a regular basis in order to keep yourself up to date and in constant touch with the language.

The ways to practice learning Spanish at home is only bound by your imagination. First and foremost you could get some light reading material, i.e. fashion magazines, comics, joke books (anything that holds your interest) and read. Have a dictionary at hand for the words you do not understand. Reading is one of the best and easiest ways to learn Spanish or any language, as a matter of fact. Reading gives you a good coverage of the language and helps you construct sentences correctly. As you progress in your level of understanding of Spanish, you can graduate to reading novels, newspapers, and other such materials that are more serious and will offer coverage on formal words and ways of communicating.

If you enjoy watching movies, you already have a wonderful way of improving your Spanish. Watch Spanish movies with sub titles so that you can follow if you understand what the actors are saying. You will be concentrating on the spoken word more than on the visual impulses, and your Spanish will improve dramatically.
