Afraid of making mistakes

Many times you are afraid to learn a new language because you are afraid of making a fool out of yourself in front of other people when you pronounce a word wrong or use the wrong word. Remember that before you learnt how to speak English as a child you make many mistakes in pronunciation and probably used many times the wrong word for the wrong object but that did not stop you from speaking or your folks for helping you learn. To learn Spanish or any other language you must practice speaking it out loud even if you say the wrong words or don’t yet have the right pronunciation.

Team up with other learners of Spanish

It is always easier to do something difficult as part of a team. You have someone else to listen to your pronunciation and give immediate feed back on what you are doing wrong or even right. If you had to practice alone, you would never know when you have made a mistake. In a class whether it is online or the traditional way, you will be able to converse with the teacher who will correct you and/or other students from whose mistakes you can learn as well. In order to learn Spanish you need to speak it everyday for at least an hour; practice the pronunciation and add to your vocabulary as well as use the words you already know.

Helpful Tips

Team up with a native speaker of Spanish and insist that you speak Spanish all of the time. Even if he or she is not in your class; try and speak Spanish to him or her everyday and let him correct you as you go. Practice is the only thing that will make you perfect; watch movies in Spanish with English subtitles so you can translate the words to don’t know. Carry a pocket dictionary in Spanish and try to translate and use as many words in Spanish as possible during the day.

There are millions of Spanish speaking people in and near the country, so it will be easy to find someone whose mother tongue is Spanish.
