How to Learn Spanish on the internet

The internet is a wonderful place to start your search for lessons to learn Spanish. Some sites make use of only text, but you can also find multi-media sites, i.e. sites that make use of text, sound and video to give you an all-round experience in learning Spanish on the internet. Some sites even record your own voice’s sound waves and compare it to a native speaker’s pronunciation on a chart, so you can actually see how good your pronunciation is. It is obvious that you must search for the web site that is appropriate to your style of learning. The reason for learning Spanish will also determine what you are looking for. Spend your first session scouting the internet for good sites.

Become one of a team

Everything that you do is always easier with a little help from your friends. With learning The Spanish language online, this same principle applies. Luckily there are many groups dedicated to helping you learn Spanish on the internet. The first place to look is for newsgroups, or just “groups”, as they are usually called. Groups congregate on a certain page and can post whatever note they want and respond to others’ posts. Usually to join a group, you must send an email to its administrator and get a login name and password. Groups like to limit the conversation to people genuinely interested in it, not casual passers-by. Groups are free; a good place to start is Yahoo! Groups.

What started as just short posts between people can quickly become a regular conversation between friends. Nothing is nicer than sending an encouraging note to your Spanish-studying buddy, unless it is receiving one. Other groups may include actual Spanish speakers who like to help others learn Spanish on the internet.

Work to a time Table

When starting out on something new, it is always better to start slowly and take your time to become accustomed to the new chapter in your life. You must set aside time to study according to a time table to force you to be strict with your studies. Make use of a quiet place at home where you will not be distracted by outside interferences. You can always increase your study time later on. It is better to start small and succeed than try to do too much and be overwhelmed.
